We are generally interested in all questions relating to middleware. We see middleware as the services, the abstractions, and the techniques that underlie the development of distributed applications and distributed systems.

In particular, we are interested in questions relating to the intersection of data management and distributed systems.

Moreover, we put strong emphasis on the exploration of publish/subscribe messaging middleware, content-based message routing, and complex event processing.

In orthogonal research efforts, we explore the use, the adaptation, and the development of separation of concern techniques to the development of middleware abstractions.
